Causes and Corrective Actions for Dog Fear Abuse/Neglect Mental or physical abuse and general neglect can leave a dog fearful of humans. ABUSE/NEGLECT Corrective Actions: For the formerly severely abused dog or if the dog shows aggression, enlist a professional trainer’s help. For the non-aggressive case, introduce kindly enforced rules that let the dog know what to expect and thus gain a feeling of security. Work positive obedience training to instill the dog with confidence in himself, in you and to strengthen the bond between you. Never permit people to force attention on the dog, initially socialize dog “around” people who purposely ignore him, once dog visibly relaxes ask people to toss treats in dog’s direction — slowly work toward a comfortable and safe tolerance with people, understanding that the abused dog may never be friendly. Genetics Some dogs possess a genetic predisposition toward fearful behavior, a trait often evident in the dog’s parents and/or grandparents.

Underweight Cat – Is Your Cat Under Weighted Or Not?Underweight Cat – Is Your Cat Under Weighted Or Not?

Cats that are underweight Cat or have lost weight usually are not receiving enough calories. If your pet is burning up more calories than usual (by living in a hot environment, exercising more, or becoming excited over nearby female in heat), eating a new food that may not be as digestible or eating less food(and therefore fewer calories), it can lose weight. If you have moved recently, brought another new pet home, or had a baby, your cat may be upset and may not eat well. But weight loss can occur from medical problems as well. In certain diseases of the thyroid, pancreas, liver, and intestines, food is not absorbed properly (diarrhea and/or vomiting will be present also). A weight-loss accompanied by increased urination and water intake may indicate the presence of hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or kidney disease. Heart disease (such as Cardiomyopathy or heart-valve disease) can cause a weight loss called cardiac Cachexia, in which the body does not get the proper nutrition because of poor circulation forms can steal the nutrition your cat’s body needs.

Best Exotic Cat Breed Guide – Characteristics, TemperamentsBest Exotic Cat Breed Guide – Characteristics, Temperaments

The Exotic Cat or the Exotic Shorthair is the only hybrid cross recognized in the US. The Exotic is a relatively new hybrid created by crossing American Shorthairs with Persians. The intent of the breeders was to create a Persian type cat that didn’t require excessive grooming. These breeders could see that a Persian in short hair would make a valuable addition to the cat fancy. The hybrid breed ran into a lot of resistance from American Shorthair breeders who wanted to keep their breed true. Therefore in 1966, it was decided to create a new breed called the Exotic Shorthair which was recognized in 1971. The first Exotic Shorthair achieved the status of Grand Champion in 1971. In 1991 an Exotic was named the CFA’s Cat of the Year. The only crosses allowed are Persian to American Shorthair, Exotic to Exotic or Persian to Exotic. Approximately 50 % of the kittens from Exotic/Persian crosses can have long hair if the Exotic carries a recessive long hair gene.

Internal parasites aren’t the only parasites your cat has to contend with: numerous insects would like to call your pet’s skin home. These are called external parasites and include such dastardly creatures sticks, fleas, mites, lice, and flies. These Cat Fleas can cause severe itching, skin infections, and even internal problems such as tapeworms, anemia, and a form of paralysis. Cat Fleas Information Preventing or treating these unwelcome creatures requires the use of insecticidal preparation. Understanding parasites’ life cycles will give you an edge in this battle, and the following discussion should be beneficial. Ticks and mites are discussed separately. Any cat older than six months of age can develop an allergy to flea saliva. Cat Fleas are thin, wingless, brown insects that are extraordinary jumpers and move through the hair coat rap-idly. The flea injects its saliva under the cat’s skin as an aid in retrieving its meal (the cat’s blood). The saliva acts as foreign material that can cause your pet to itch and bite itself profusely.

Tortoise Breeding: If the tortoises breeding is provided with a good diet and they are mature enough, mating will occur. Mating usually takes place the first few weeks after they come out of hibernation. During the mating process, the male often bites the front leg of the female tortoise. The female tortoises are shy in nature; therefore they try their best to escape. Make sure that the enclosure in which you keep your tortoise for the mating process is sealed properly. Tortoise Breeding is not an intricate or tedious task but you have to take care of a lot of things while breeding tortoise. SUFFOLK PUNCH HEIGHT: 16.1–17 hands ORIGIN OF SUFFOLK PUNCH: Suffolk, England SPECIAL QUALITIES: Extremely rare. In England fewer than 100 horses. World population of fewer than 3,500 BEST SUITED FOR: Farming and logging The Suffolk Punch is perhaps the oldest draft breed in England. It originated on the farms of East Anglia, a peninsula surrounded by the North Sea on the east, south, and north and by the Fens — large swampy marshes—to the west. Because of the geographical isolation, local horses were hardly influenced by outside breeds. The farmers of Suffolk independently developed several unique breeds of livestock, including the famous Suffolk sheep, all ideally suited to their particular way of life. Camden’s Britannia dates the Suffolk Horse from 1506, but the breed was likely present and well defined before it was ever described in print, and it has changed very little since then. Some historians think the Vikings brought the ancient Jutland horse, which resembles the present-day Suffolk Punch,
