The Belgian Shepherd Groenendael Groenendael is one of the four varieties of Belgian Shepherd Dogs. They originated as herding dogs in the various provinces of Belgium and worked as living fences for the many flocks of sheep found in the region – they were much prized for their tireless quick gait, their intelligence, and intense loyalty. Facts For Belgian Shepherd Groenendael In 1891 the first gathering of Belgian Shepherds from various Belgian counties was organized and from this, four distinct varieties could be seen and these were named after the areas from which they were most prevalent. The first breed standard was written in 1892 which separated the varieties into long-haired, short-haired, and rough-haired. During World War One Belgian Shepherd Dogs were used on the battlefields serving as ambulance dogs, message carriers and even pulling machine guns. The period after the war saw an increase in popularity of the breed worldwide and Groenendaels were exported to many parts of the world.

Dandie Dinmont Terrier Dog Temperament A fun-loving, affectionate, and lively dog, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a great choice for a companion dog. Standard Poodle, Despite the widespread belief that the Poodle originated in France, there is evidence that his origins are more likely to be German or even Russian. The elaborate show trims we see today have evolved from the original need to clip the coat where possible to reduce drag in the water whilst swimming. Bullmastiff Dog, Although historically a member of the ancient Molosser breeds, the modern Bullmastiff dog, as we know it today, was only officially recognized by the Kennel Club in 1927. Its original purpose in the mid 19th century was to act as a Gamekeeper’s companion and guard to assist in the apprehension of poachers, hence its name at that time of the ‘Gamekeeper’s Night Dog’. The requirement was for a large but agile dog, able to pursue and bring down a man and hold without savaging until his master arrived. The Italian Greyhound is a very elegant looking dog, with a graceful stance and a slender build with a slightly arched back. Sporting a short, glossy coat, this breed comes in various colors, which include cream, blue, fawn, red, gray, or black. Some may also have white markings on their coats.
